A MESSAGE FROM THE Superintendent

Welcome to Monticello Community Unit School District #25, Home of the Sages.

Monticello Community Unit School District #25 was established in 1948 and is located in central Illinois between Champaign and Decatur. Monticello Schools have approximately 1700 students, 130 teachers and administrators, and 65 support staff members. The district encompasses 160 square miles and serves students from Monticello, Cisco, Lodge, White Heath, and the surrounding rural area with a total district population of over 8,000.

Monticello Schools offers students a traditional comprehensive education that includes a core of academic subjects as well as a variety of elective strands. A safe and secure learning environment is provided in which high expectations for all students are held. Opportunities to participate in a wide selection of extra-curricular and co-curricular activities are available for students. The majority of district teachers have advanced degrees within their field. The student body is comprised of loyal students and school spirit is visible throughout the school year. Monticello Schools are located within fifty miles of seven institutions of higher learning.

Monticello Schools are known throughout the area for their high test scores, small class sizes, and low tax rates. Monticello High School has been an area leader since the adoption of state wide testing and has earned a place in Newsweek's Top 100 High Schools. Our elementary and middle schools are well represented on the state wide lists. Benefiting from the headquartering of Illinois Power and General Telephone of Illinois in Monticello in the 1920's, district taxpayers enjoy one of the lowest property tax rates for unit school districts in the state.

Monticello CUSD #25 has come a long way while staying true to the traditional values of our communities. WE ARE PROUD TO BE SAGES!

It's a Great Day to be a Sage!
