The first day of school will be Wednesday, September 2nd. Washington School is in session from 8:15-1:10. Supervision at Washington School begins at 7:30 AM. Upon arrival to school, students will report to the location posted below based on homerooms. Students will social distance and be wearing masks. If your child is eating breakfast he/she will go directly to the cafeteria to eat and then report to his homeroom’s location. Staff will be in the hallways to help direct students to the correct location for the first few days. All Pro Dads will meet tomorrow at 7:30 in the Washington nonfiction library room at the far end of the hallway. Everyone is going to face challenges in their life, even our kids. Perseverance is never giving up. It's not being stopped by a bad outcome or difficult task, but always moving forward. AMERICAN HEART MONTH Make HEART HEALTH Happen! February 1: National Wear Red Day - Wear RED to school! February 8: Pay $1.00 to wear a hat in class all day. All proceeds will be donated to the American Heart Association.
5th grade band and chorus concert! The 5th grade band and choir students have been working very hard and we are very excited to have our first concert on Wednesday, December 12th! A reminder that for the evening concerts we dress up for this event in concert black. This can be black pants, and a black shirt or black dress and black shoes. We will use this same uniform at both concerts this year and again in middle school as well. If you do not have concert black dress clothes, they usually have some at Willow tree, Wal-Mart, Kohl's, Target, etc. Call time for students in the concert will be 6:30 p.m., and the concert will begin at 7:00 p.m. If any of the percussion students can come closer to 6:15 p.m. to help set up the percussion equipment, that would be great! In-School Concert We will also have an in school concert for Washington School on Wednesday, 12/12 at 2:30 p.m. As this is not a normal band day, please help your son/daughter remember their instrument! For the in school concert, students can wear their band OR choir shirt, or if they did not get a shirt, any purple shirt will do!

Due to wet, muddy, and snowy conditions behind the visitors bleachers as well as the large crowds expected on Saturday, fans and students should NOT bring footballs or other "play" items into the facility. Fans and students who bring footballs or other "play" items will be directed to return the items to their vehicles. Thank you for your attention and cooperation in this matter.

Washington School relocation drill was a success. The goal is for students to know how to get to our relocation site in case of an emergency evacuation.

The next All Pro Dad's meeting is tomorrow, Tuesday, September 25, at 7:30 AM in the Washington School conference room. It is important to model and teach our children to have a positive attitude. Being positive affects our overall health, how we get along with others, and can determine our success at home, school, and work. Having a positive attitude could lead to a longer life. First through fourth grade students are invited to participate in the Global Cardboard Challenge, which will be held in the MMS Makerspace on October 3rd from 3:30-4:30. Students participating in the challenge will use their imaginations to build items out of cardboard. The event is free and registration is limited to the first 15 students. Due to the heat Washington School is dismissing at 2:10 September 18-20, 2018. Due to the early dismissal, there will NOT be Girls on the Run tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept 18 or Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018. We had a fabulous first day! Students met all their teachers today and tomorrow during an assembly they will get to meet the entire Washington staff. Dismissal went very smoothly! Mrs. Rosenbery is outside supervising the buses, a teacher is assisting students across Sage Drive at the crosswalk, and an aide is supervising Sage Drive keeping an eye on students who are getting picked up or walking home. If you have any questions about after school procedures please call the office. It's A Great Day To Be A Sage!
